A passed ball by Jim Sundberg in the sixth inning enabled the White Sox to score what proved to be their winning run in a 5-4 victory over the Rangers. Chet Lemon batted in two runs and Alan Bannister and Jim Essian accounted for one each to give the White Sox a 4-1 lead before Eric Soderholm and Jim Essian singled in the sixth.

After a sacrifice, Sundberg was charged with a passed ball on a pitch to Bannister, allowing Soderholm to score. The Rangers, who were stopped on their five-game winning streak, fell short with a three-run rally in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
