Enjoying a big night at bat, Fred Patek hit a homer, single and pair of sacrifice flies, driving in four runs, to help the Royals defeat the Blue Jays, 8-0. Patek homered with a man on base in the second inning, hit his sacrifice flies in the third and fifth and singled to set up another run in the seventh. George Brett had four hits. Larry Gura scattered nine hits in his fifth start of the season and registered his first shutout since last September 26.
