Joe Morgan batted in four runs in support of Tom Seaver, who pitched the Reds to an 8-3 victory over the Pirates. Doubles by Pete Rose and Morgan each accounted for two runs in the second inning. Johnny Bench homered in the third. After the Reds picked up an unearned run in the seventh, Morgan homered with a man on base in the eighth. Seaver was tagged for back-to-back homers by Al Oliver and Bobby Tolan in the fifth and gave up the Pirates' final run on another round-tripper by Bill Robinson in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
