The Angels swept a doubleheader from the Royals, winning the first game, 6-4, and taking the nightcap, 7-2, to drop Kaycee to fourth place in the American League West. A four-run second inning helped Nolan Ryan, with help from reliever Dave LaRoche, become the first 16-game winner in the A. L. while ending Kaycee's 13-game home winning streak.
