Coming from behind after trailing, 10-5, the Red Sox gained their 11th straight victory by defeating the Angels, 11-10. The Angels, who were stopped on a six-game winning streak, fell behind early in the game, 5-2, but then built up their big lead with the aid of a two-run homer by Bobby Bonds.

The Red Sox began their rally with three runs in the seventh inning on a double by Fred Lynn, triple by Jim Rice, double by Carlton Fisk and triple by George Scott. Dwight Evans opened the eighth with a single and pinch-hitter Bernie Carbo followed with a homer to tie the score. Rick Burleson walked and Lynn sacrificed. After an intentional pass to Rice, Carl Yastrzemski singled to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
