A homer by Hal McRae provided the winning blow as the Royals broke a 6-6 tie with three runs in the sixth inning and then stood off a rally by the Blue Jays to gain a 9-8 victory. Four of the Royals' runs were unearned. Doug Ault hit a homer for the Blue Jays to help effect a tie before the Royals broke away in the sixth. Fred Patek tripled and scored on a single by Tom Poquette. McRae followed with his homer, enabling the Royals to withstand a two-run rally by the Blue Jays in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
