After coming from behind with a pair of two-run homers, the Phillies posted their 10th straight victory when Bake McBride connected for the circuit with two men on base in the 11th to beat the Cubs, 10-7. The Cubs had round-trippers by Manny Trillo and Bobby Murcer in taking a 6-2 lead before McBride drove in a run with a single in the seventh inning.

Jay Johnstone homered with a man on base for the Phils in the eighth. After the Cubs added a run in their half, pinch-hitter Davey Johnson belted a two-run homer for the Phils to tie the score in the ninth. Dave Giusti, pitching in relief for the Cubs, helped dig his own grave in the 11th by issuing two passes before McBride smashed his decisive homer. [The Sporting News]
