A six-run rally by the White Sox in the ninth inning went to waste when the Yankees came back with a two-run homer by Chris Chambliss to gain an 11-10 victory. Bucky Dent drove in three runs with a single and double and Roy White homered with a man on base to help the Yankees to a 9-4 lead before the White Sox erupted in the ninth with a rally that included a two-run homer by Jim Spencer and two-run single by Oscar Gamble. In the Yankees' half, Thurman Munson walked and Chambliss pulled the game out of the fire with his homer off Randy Wiles. [The Sporting News]
