Dennis Leonard tossed a four-hitter while Wayne Garland lost on his first two pitches of the game as the Royals defeated the Indians, 4-0. Tom Poquette doubled on Garland's first delivery. Hal McRae tripled on the next serve and continued home when the relay throw by Larvell Blanks bounced into the stands. The Royals added a run as the result of an error by Andre Thornton in the second and completed their scoring when Frank White doubled and Bob Heise singled in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
