The Twins dealt the Red Sox their fourth straight defeat, 5-4, on Larry Hisle's run-scoring single in the last of the ninth. Richie Chiles singled leading off the ninth and was replaced by pinch-runner Jerry Terrell. Bill Campbell relieved Bill Lee and yielded a single to Butch Wynegar and the game-winning hit by Hisle. Butch Hobson had tied the game for the Red Sox with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth. [The Sporting News]
