. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Buddy Bell hit a grand-slam homer and Rico Carty hit a three-run homer and had five runs batted in to support the two-hit pitching of Jim Bibby as the Indians routed the Mariners, 12-1, in the first game of a twi-night doubleheader.

The Mariners bounced back to win the second game, 4-3, with three runs in the fifth. Losing pitcher Wayne Garland walked Ruppert Jones to force in the tying run, then threw a wild pitch to permit Jose Baez to score the eventual winning run. [The Sporting News]
