A bases-loaded double by Otto Velez in the sixth inning capped a five-run outburst and clinched the Blue Jays' 8-1 victory over the Athletics. The Blue Jays put together singles by Roy Howell, Hector Torres, Rick Cerone and Steve Bowling for two runs in the second. In the sixth, Cerone drove in a run with a single and Steve Staggs walked with the bases loaded before Velez cleared the sacks with his double.
