Junior Moore's speed in beating the throw to first on what would have been an inning-ending double play enabled the Braves to defeat the Cubs, 4-3. Rowland Office and Willie Montanez hit homers for the Braves, while the Cubs had circuit clouts by Steve Ontiveros and Greg Gross.

In the eighth inning, Jeff Burroughs singled with one out and took third on a single by Montanez. Moore then forced Montanez and Burroughs scored the winning run when the Cubs failed to complete the double play with a late throw to first. [The Sporting News]
