The Royals tied the Kansas City club record with their eighth consecutive victory when John Wathan and Amos Otis drove in runs in the 15th inning to beat the Brewers, 4-3. Sal Bando homered for the Brewers in the second. The Royals scored twice in the fifth on singles by Bob Heise, Hal McRae, George Brett and Al Cowens, but the Brewers knotted the count in the seventh on a pass to Robin Yount, a sacrifice and single by Charlie Moore.

In the 15th, John Mayberry walked and raced home from first when Wathan doubled. Wathan took third on the throw and counted what proved to be the deciding run on a single by Otis. The Brewers fell short with one run in their half of the 15th on a pass to Steve Brye and singles by Jim Wohlford and Cecil Cooper. [The Sporting News]
