. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Reggie Smith homered in the third inning and knocked in another run with a two-out single in the 10th to give the Dodgers a 2-1 victory over the Pirates. Tommy John was rapped for 11 hits by the Pirates, but their only run was unearned when Frank Taveras singled, stole second and third and scored on a wild throw by Steve Yeager in the home half of the third. In the 10th, Lee Lacy drew a walk from Rich Gossage with two away and stole second. After Bill Russell beat out an infield hit, Smith singled to plate the winning run. [The Sporting News]
