. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After being held to one hit in the first seven innings, the Mariners rallied to defeat the Indians, 4-2. Wayne Garland, who was pitching with a 2-0 lead, gave up the Mariners' first run in the eighth on a double by Craig Reynolds and single by Jose Baez. Dan Meyer also singled before the inning ended.

When Ruppert Jones opened the ninth with a single for only the fifth hit off Garland, Jim Kern relieved. Jones moved to second on an infield out by Bill Stein and scored the tying run on a single by Carlos Lopez. One out later, Reynolds singled to drive in the Mariners' go-ahead run and Steve Braun followed with a double to plate an extra tally. [The Sporting News]
