. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After putting on a power display with four homers, the Red Sox pushed over two runs in the eighth inning and defeated the Twins, 7-5. Tommy Helms homered with a man on base in the third and Butch Hobson followed with a four-bagger, marking the 15th time this season that the Red Sox hit back-to-back homers.

Bob Montgomery joined in the slugging in the fifth and George Scott in the sixth. The Red Sox then posted their deciding pair in the eighth on a walk to Helms, double by Hobson and successive sacrifice flies by Carl Yastrzemski and Jim Rice. Rod Carew had two hits for the Twins, driving in one run and scoring another. [The Sporting News]
