Dave Rozema, the Tigers' cinch candidate for A. L. Rookie Pitcher of the Year honors, gained his 15th victory, beating the Brewers, 4-2. The Tigers did their scoring early. Ron LeFlore led off with a triple and crossed the plate on an infield out by Tito Fuentes. Rusty Staub followed with a single and counted on a double by Steve Kemp and sacrifice fly by Jason Thompson.

Milt May singled and Aurelio Rodriguez homered for the Tigers' other pair in the second before the Brewers scored twice in their half on a double by Sal Bando, singles by Ed Kirkpatrick and Robin Yount and an infield out by Charlie Moore. [The Sporting News]
