Mickey Rivers homered on the first pitch thrown to him by Diego Segui in the 11th inning to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory over the Mariners. The Yankees, who had a three-run homer by Graig Nettles in the fifth, built up a 5-2 lead before the Mariners rallied to tie the score in the eighth.

Dan Meyer, Ruppert Jones and Carlos Lopez singled for one run to kayo Ed Figueroa. After Sparky Lyle relieved, the tying tallies followed on a single by Leroy Stanton and sacrifice fly by Bill Stein. Lyle went on to gain the victory while Segui, who relieved in the 10th, was the loser in the next stanza on Rivers' rap. [The Sporting News]
