Gaylord Perry stifled the Royals on four hits and pitched the Rangers to an 8-2 victory. The Rangers collected 13 hits, including homers by Willie Horton and Toby Harrah. Horton also had a double and sacrifice fly to account for three RBIs.

Bert Campaneris beat out a bunt in the first inning for the 2,000th hit of his major league career. The veteran shortstop also doubled and hit two more singles in five trips.
