Biff Pocoroba batted in three runs, while Willie Montanez scored two and drove in one, as the Braves defeated the Mets, 7-5. The Braves scored four runs in the first inning, all charged against Bob Myrick, who gave up four hits and a walk and failed to retire any batters. Pocoroba plated one run with an infield out after Rick Baldwin relieved Myrick.

The Mets came back with two runs in each of the first two innings, but the Braves broke the tie in the third when Montanez singled and Pocoroba doubled. Pocoroba homered in the sixth when the Braves scored twice for their winning margin. [The Sporting News]
