After a run scored when the White Sox failed to complete what would have been a game-ending double play, Eddie Murray crashed a two-run homer to give the Orioles a 7-5 victory. The Orioles scored three runs in the eighth to take a 4-2 lead, but the White Sox chased Jim Palmer and tied the game in their half on run-scoring hits by Jim Spencer and Lamar Johnson.

Al Bumbry and Rich Dauer hit singles, Bumbry taking third, to open the Orioles' ninth. After one out, Lee May forced Dauer but beat the throw to first to prevent a double play. Murray followed with his homer off Clay Carroll. [The Sporting News]
