Don Gullett, who had been on the disabled list with a bad shoulder, allowed only three hits in his first start since July 30 and pitched the Yankees to a 4-0 victory over the Twins. The Yankees' runs came on a grand slam by Cliff Johnson, who smashed his homer off Geoff Zahn in the first inning after Thurman Munson doubled and Graig Nettles and Lou Piniella walked.
