Dave Roberts drove in four runs with a double and his first homer of the season and George Hendrick also doubled and homered as the Padres defeated the Astros, 9-5. The Padres jumped on J.R. Richard for four runs in the second inning on Hendrick's homer, doubles by Dave Winfield and Roberts, a triple by Mike Champion and single by Tucker Ashford. Hendrick's double led to another run in the third. Roberts capped the scoring with a three-run homer in the ninth.
