Rookie righthander Hal Dues, who came up from Quebec City (Eastern), gained his first major league victory when the Expos defeated the Pirates, 2-1. The Expos scored their runs in the third inning. Chris Speier singled and was forced by Dues. Dave Cash followed with a single and both runners then scored on a double by Andre Dawson. The Pirates, who collected only six hits off Dues, counted their run in the third on a double by Omar Moreno and single by Frank Taveras. [The Sporting News]
