A two-run homer by pinch-hitter Gene Clines in the ninth inning carried the Cubs to a 10-8 victory over the Mets. Bruce Boisclair had a triple, double and two singles for the Mets, who blew 4-0 and 7-5 leads before going ahead again with a run in the ninth on doubles by Steve Henderson and John Stearns. In the Cubs' half, after Manny Trillo walked and George Mitterwald sacrificed, Clines won the game for Bruce Sutter with his homer.
