. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bobby Bonds hit a three-run homer, raising his RBI total to a career high of 103, and John Caneira gained the victory in his major league debut as the Angels defeated the White Sox, 6-1. Wilbur Wood, who started for the White Sox, tied a major league record by hitting three consecutive batters with pitched balls in the first inning.

Bonds hit his homer in the second and Ron Jackson added a solo swat in the fifth. Caneira pitched seven innings, allowing five hits, and retired the last 11 batters he faced before Dyar Miller came in and finished with two perfect innings. [The Sporting News]
