Steve Rogers reached his career high of 16 victories when the Expos rallied for five runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Mets, 8-5. The Expos, who were trailing, 4-3, opened their rally with the tying run on singles by Warren Cromartie, Chris Speier and Jerry White.

Dave Cash laid down a bunt and when Skip Lockwood threw wildly, Pepe Frias, running for Speier, scored from second base. Stan Papi followed with a two-run triple and Tony Perez singled for the 1,200th RBI of his career.
