After Rangers scored four runs in the first inning, Mike Hargrove homered in the second to supply the deciding run in a 6-4 victory over the Angels. In the Rangers' getaway, Willie Horton knocked in two runs with a bases-loaded single and the third run scored when Bobby Bonds bobbled the ball on Horton's hit. Ken Henderson drove in the fourth run with a single.

After Hargrove's homer, the Rangers added an insurance run in the sixth on singles by Ken Henderson and Dave May around a sacrifice by Lew Beasley. Bonds homered for the Angels, who were held to seven hits by Nelson Briles and Adrian Devine. [The Sporting News]
