Tom Seaver gained the 200th victory of his major league career, pitching the Reds past the Dodgers, 3-2. Rick Monday homered after a pass to Dusty Baker to produce the Dodgers' runs in the fourth inning. The Reds came back with the tying pair in the fifth.

Johnny Bench walked and Dave Concepcion doubled for the Reds' first hit off Doug Rau. Bench scored on an infield out by Bob Bailey and Concepcion crossed the plate on a single by Dan Driessen. George Foster and Bench singled in the seventh and, after Mike Garman replaced Rau, Concepcion singled to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
