Gene Richards singled with two out in the 10th to score Gene Tenace from third with the winning run as the Padres took a 4-3 verdict over the Astros. Tenace opened the inning with a walk. Third baseman Enos Cabell threw wildly on Mike Champion's bunt and Tucker Ashford sacrificed the runners along.

After Dave Roberts was retired, Richards bounced a single to center. The Astros had tied the score in the seventh when Cabell, aboard on a fielder's choice, stole second and third before tallying on a sacrifice fly by Cesar Cedeno. [The Sporting News]
