Dave May scored the winning run on a squeeze play in the bottom of the 17th inning to give the Rangers a 5-4 decision over the Twins. Leading off the decisive frame, May was safe on second baseman Bob Randall's throwing error. Sandy Alomar followed with a bunt single. May stole third and took off for home on the first pitch to Bert Campaneris, who bunted down the first base line. May slid in under first baseman Rod Carew's throw to end the marathon.
