The White Sox scored two runs in the ninth to shade the Mariners, 5-4. Ralph Garr tripled after Brian Downing opened the ninth with a single and Garr scored the eventual winning run on Chet Lemon's sacrifice fly. The Mariners scored all four of their runs on homers. Dan Meyer tied the score at 3-3 with a three-run clout in the sixth and Ruppert Jones connected in the ninth to narrow the White Sox margin. [The Sporting News]
