The Giants sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs in the second inning to defeat the Padres, 7-5. Darrell Evans was safe on an error, Terry Whitfield singled and Vic Harris hit a sacrifice fly for the first run.

After Gary Alexander was retired, the Giants loaded the bases on a pass to Bob Knepper and singles by Derrel Thomas and Rob Andrews. Gary Thomasson then cleared the sacks with a double and scored himself on a single by Willie McCovey. Evans homered for the Giants' final run in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
