Ron Pruitt's single in the bottom of the ninth scored Buddy Bell from second and gave the Indians a 5-4 triumph over the Red Sox. With one out, Bell beat out an infield hit and reached second when Jerry Remy threw wide to second after fielding Rick Manning's roller.

With the count 3-0 on Pruitt, Dick Drago relieved Reggie Cleveland and Pruitt lined his first pitch to left for the game-winning blow. The Tribe had built an early 4-0 lead but the Bosox rallied to tie the score, Carlton Fisk hitting a homer off reliever Mike Paxton in the sixth for the fourth Boston run. [The Sporting News]
