Mike Cubbage and Roy Smalley clubbed back-to-back homers to highlight a five-run fifth inning as the Twins breezed to an 8-1 victory over the Angels. Rookie hurler Roger Erickson had trouble only in the fifth when he yielded three hits, including a solo homer to Don Baylor, but the young righthander closed the frame by striking out Rick Miller with the bases loaded.
