The unbeaten Brewers continued their assault on A.L. pitching by smashing the Yankees, 9-6. In four games, the Brewers had produced 49 runs on 49 hits, including nine homers and nine doubles. After Thurman Munson's RBI double got the Yankees on the board in the first inning, Cecil Cooper tied the score in the bottom of the frame with a solo homer.

The Brewers took the lead for good in the second on a single by Sal Bando and homer by Gorman Thomas. Catfish Hunter was driven from the mound in a three-run third-inning uprising and, after Willie Randolph's three-run homer in the sixth narrowed the gap to 6-4, Thomas' second homer in the bottom of the inning sealed the triumph for the Brewers.
