Jack Clark hit an eighth-inning homer to give the Giants a 3-2 triumph over the Reds. All of the Giants' runs came on homers. Darrell Evans and Terry Whitfield connected in the fourth. Gary Lavelle, taking over from starter Bob Knepper in the seventh after leadoff singles by Dave Concepcion and Dan Driessen, blanked the Reds the rest of the way for the victory.
