An eight-run first inning sent the Angels on their way to a 9-5 thumping of the Twins. Rick Miller started the big inning with a walk and went to third on a single by Bobby Grich. An error and a walk produced the first run, Don Baylor singled in two more and Rance Mulliniks drove in the fourth with a sacrifice fly.

With two men on and a count of two balls on Terry Humphrey, Gary Serum relieved starter Pete Redfern and completed the walk to load the bases. Miller then hit the first grand slam of his major league career. [The Sporting News]
