The Royals posted their sixth straight triumph, 2-1, over the Indians, getting both their runs in the seventh inning. Al Cowens led off with a single and after Darrell Porter struck out, Amos Otis was hit by a pitch. Clint Hurdle's single to center scored Cowens.

Freddie Patek stroked an infield hit to load the bases and Frank White then placed a sacrifice bunt to plate the winning tally. The Tribe's run came in the fourth when Paul Dade singled, stole second, took third on a wild pitch and came home on Johnny Grubb's sacrifice fly. [The Sporting News]
