The streaking Red Sox extended their winning skein to six games with a come-from-behind 7-6 victory over the Brewers. Homers by Larry Hisle and Sal Bando were key blows as the Brewers built a 6-2 bulge. But the Red Sox scored three runs in the sixth inning and won in the ninth.

The decisive rally began when Butch Hobson singled, took second on a sacrifice and scored on Jack Brohamer's fourth hit of the game. Frank Duffy ran for Brohamer and counted the winning run when Carlton Fisk doubled off the left field wall. Luis Tiant, who suffered a dislocated finger on his pitching hand during spring training, made his first appearance of the season and struck out four batters while hurling three hitless innings in relief.
