Two unearned runs in the ninth inning on two singles, a sacrifice and three errors enabled the A's to defeat the Mariners, 5-3. Gary Alexander, Dave Revering, Jim Essian and Wayne Gross all singled in the fourth for the A's first two runs and Alexander homered in the fifth.

After handing the A's their pair in the ninth, the Mariners staged a rally in the home half, scoring their three runs, before Elias Sosa relieved and retired Dan Meyer to save the game for Oakland. [The Sporting News]
