The Indians got off to a fast start and held on to top the Blue Jays, 4-2. Jim Norris opened the game with a single and scored on a double by Johnny Grubb, who scored on Andre Thornton's double.

The Tribe added a run in the second on an RBI single by Rick Manning and in the ninth on a wild pitch. The Jays' runs came in the first on back-to-back singles by Bob Bailor and Roy Howell followed by a wild pitch and in the ninth on Rico Carty's solo homer. [The Sporting News]
