A two-run homer by Tom Poquette sparked a six-run sixth-inning rally in the Royals' come-from-behind 8-6 triumph over the Rangers. With Texas ahead, 6-2, Al Cowens and Darrell Porter drew walks to launch the rally. Clint Hurdle singled up the middle to score one run.

Reggie Cleveland relieved Dock Ellis and allowed a run-scoring single to Amos Otis and another run scored on an infield out. One out later, Poquette slammed a shot into the right field seats to put the Royals ahead. An additional tally came across when Hal McRae doubled and scored on George Brett's single.
