. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After opening up an early 5-1 lead, the Mariners held on to post a 5-4 triumph over the Angels. The Mariners got four of their runs in the third inning. Consecutive singles by Larry Milbourne, Julio Cruz, Bruce Bochte and Leon Roberts accounted for two tallies and another pair crossed the plate on Ruppert Jones' single following a wild pitch and intentional walk. Leroy Stanton drilled a homer to lead off the Mariners' second.

Angel manager Dave Garcia protested the game in the sixth inning when Lyman Bostock was held to first base by plate umpire Joe Brinkman on a single down the right field line that was touched by a ball boy. One out later, Don Baylor smashed a homer to cut the Mariners' lead to 5-3. [The Sporting News]
