The Rangers posted their third straight victory, beating the Indians, 3-1, as Mike Hargrove hit a home run for the third consecutive game. The Rangers scored all their runs in the fifth inning.

Jim Sundberg tripled to open the frame and, one out later, Bert Campaneris, batting .073, singled in Sundberg. Hargrove followed with his clout into the right field bleachers. The Tribe's tally came in the sixth on successive singles by Buddy Bell, Andre Thornton and Larvell Blanks. [The Sporting News]
