The Mariners collected seven hits off Dave Rozema but failed to score and suffered their sixth shutout in 25 games this season, losing to the Tigers, 5-0. The Tigers picked up two unearned runs in first the inning, added a pair when Steve Kemp walked and Milt May homered in the fourth and wrapped up their scoring with singles by Ron LeFlore, Rusty Staub and Jason Thompson in the seventh.
