A homer by Dusty Baker climaxed a five-run outburst in the first inning that sent the Dodgers on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Pirates. Bill Russell singled, Reggie Smith doubled and Steve Garvey hit a sacrifice fly for the Dodgers' first run. Smith took third on a wild pitch by Bert Blyleven and crossed the plate on a single by Rick Monday before Baker bashed his homer. [The Sporting News]
