A pair of homers enabled the Reds to overtake the Mets and win a 7-6 squeaker in 10 innings. With the Reds trailing, 6-5, George Foster hit a homer in the ninth to tie the game and Dan Driessen then led off the 10th with a homer to produce the victory. The Mets had opened up an early 5-1 lead, but a two-run single by Johnny Bench keyed a three-run rally in the fifth that brought the Reds within 5-4.
