A two-run homer by Edie Murray in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Orioles to a 3-2 triumph and ended the Red Sox winning streak at seven. Pinch-hitter Carlos Lopez opened the ninth with a bloop single to center. After Ken Singleton sacrificed, Murray unloaded.

The first Red Sox run came in the second on consecutive singles by Carlton Fisk, Fred Lynn and Butch Hobson. Singleton's homer tied it for the Orioles in the fourth. The Red Sox took a 2-1 lead in the seventh on an RBI double by Frank Duffy. [The Sporting News]
